A Dell XPS 13 még mindig kitűnő subnotebook, így egyértelműen megérdemli, hogy még egy helyet kapjon a Top 10 listánkon. A 11.5 órás üzemidő, a 90% sRGB lefedettségű, világos kijelző, a strapabíró alu ház, csendes ventilátor, méretéhez képest jó hangzás, a bőséges portválaszték és a karbantartás egyszerűsége - ezek mind-mind nagyon vonzóvá teszik ezt a 13 inches notebookot.

A fő kérdésünk az volt a teszt elején, hogy vajon a Kaby Lake R i5 CPU elegendő, vagy jobban megéri az i7-re utazni?

Véleményünk szerint a gyengébb lapkakészlet több, mint elegendő a legtöbb felhasználó számára, ha nem az a legfontosabb számukra, hogy párhuzamosan tudjanak futtatni alkalmazásokat. Az i5 és az i7 processzorok is lefojtják magukat tartós terhelés esetén, és a teljesítmény 8, illetve 9%-kal vissza is esik. A teszt során a procik egyike sem érte el az elméleti maximum Turbo sebességét (3.4, illetve 4.0 GHz). A CPU teljesítménykülönbség az i5 és i7 verzió között elég kicsi, valahol +19 % és +7 % között (egy- vs. többszálas tesztek) mozog. Az i7 egy kicsivel elhúz ha csak a rendszer sebességét nézzük (+8 %).

Mindkét XPS 13 változat lenyom egy sor rivális subnotebookot, például a HP Envy 13-ad006ng-t, vagy az Apple MacBook Pro 13 2017-et a CPU teljesítménye terén (Kaby Lake R, 8 szállal). Az i7, például 70 %-kal nagyobb teljesítményt nyújt (R15 Multi, Kaby i7 vs Kaby R i7). Az új, négymagos i5 pedig akár 75 %-kal is gyorsabb, mint a régi, kétmagos 7200U (R15 Multi).
