Mit tud a konkurencia? Az Edge 20 Pro például 144 Hz-es panelt, hűvösebb és kitartóbb működést csak papíron gyengébb hardverrel, profi képfeldolgozás helyett használható zoomkamerát, sokéves támogatás helyett pedig 12/256 GB-os kiszerelést, olcsóbban, tehát bőven akad ellenfél. A tetszett plecsni viszont kiérdemelt, hiszen a Pixel 6 a legfontosabbakat kipipálja (összeszerelés, szoftvertámogatás, kamera), csak a Google magyarországi belépője van hátra.

Overall, the Pixel 6 takes excellent images on a level with flagship smartphones costing nearer £1000. Yes, you miss the telephoto camera on most other premium flagships, but if you can live without this, you’re making an impressive saving, as well as benefiting from some of the most impressive computational photography features seem on any camera, let alone a smartphone. One area where the Pixel 6 could improve, is by giving more control to the user, as it would be good to be able to tone down the HDR look of images, and a fully manual mode might be useful, especially if you want to learn more about how to take photos, however, it looks like this isn’t very likely. The selfie camera also lags behind some, as Samsung’s flagships offer AF, rather than fixed focus, and 4K video too. Video is another area where the Pixel 6 is somewhat lacking. It will record 4K 60fps video with great image stabilisation but other smartphones offer more, with the iPhone 13 series and Samsung S21 series leading the way, offering a number of background blur and cinematic options, as well as 8K video on the Samsung. But for stills photography, the Pixel 6 still has imaging technologies to compete with more expensive smartphones and, in terms of clever computational imaging, regular cameras.

Whenever I recommend a Pixel phone to friends, family members, or Android Authority readers, there’s always a good reason for it — be it the easy-to-use camera system, cheap price tag, or day-one software updates and security patches. I genuinely believe that Pixel phones are just easier to use than other smartphones from other manufacturers. That’s still very much the case for the Pixel 6, and the omissions and oversights that do need addressing are mostly papered over by how much it undercuts the completion on value. Battery life is great. The screen, performance, audio experience, and cameras are all solid. The overall package Google delivered with the Pixel 6 is astoundingly good and is absolutely worth buying in 2022. Throw in that cheap price tag, and you have yourself one of the easiest-to-recommend smartphones ever made.

The Pixel 6 is the best phone Google's ever made. But that doesn't mean it's necessarily ready to supplant flagships from Apple and Samsung among the best phones you can buy. The cameras on the Pixel 6 are as good as ever, and the new editing tools bring some welcome features. That said, I think the iPhone 13 takes better pictures for the most part, particularly in low lighting, where past Pixels have previously excelled. Tensor seems like a welcome addition to the Pixel lineup as well, though the true value of its machine learning expertise is only going to fully reveal itself over time. I wish battery performance was more consistent on the Pixel 6 and that figuring out 5G connectivity didn't require a wall chart. Since Google can now commit to security updates for longer periods of time, it would do well to mirror Apple's stance on software updates, too. The constant problems popping up also show that Google could be doing better on the software front. Between the new capabilities introduced by both Tensor and Android 12, though, the Pixel 6 is definitely a contender to become your next phone.

Thanks to the in-house Tensor chipset, Google announced that the Pixel 6 series will receive three years of major OS updates and five years of security patches. That means the Pixel 6 series will see Android 15 and security updates into October 2026. This is up from Google’s previous Pixel commitment of three years of major OS updates and three years of security updates. Google might be among the frontrunners in update longevity in the Android world, but it’s still well behind Apple’s support for older iPhones. Apple recently updated a six-year-old iPhone to the latest version of iOS. While I welcome Google’s improved software support with the Pixel 6, it could do much better. Google also sits behind Samsung, which now offers four years of Android OS updates and five years of security patches for its flagship devices. Although Google has made impressive claims regarding its software commitment, we haven’t seen them come to life quite as smoothly.

The Google Pixel 6 represents quite a departure from recent Pixel phone launches. Not only is it unashamedly premium in its design, but it costs the same amount as the Pixel 5 did at launch, is significantly faster and comes with improved cameras and a revamped UI. At such a reasonable price and with such a tempting array of features, Google has a winner on its hands. Aside from the “love it or hate it” design, the only real fly in the ointment is the Pixel 6’s battery life, which comes in well under its competitors. But it’s hardly a deal-breaker at just under 20 hours. If you can stomach the stamina hit and you’re after the (almost) best that Android can currently muster, Google’s Android-waving Pixel 6 is a firm choice that’s well worth the money.

However, the Pixel 6 still feels like less of a game-changer and more of a somewhat sturdy step on the (hopefully) short road to building the best sub $1,000 Android phone. All the software features that Tensor enables sound cool in theory, but in my day-to-day use when I just want apps to run quickly and the battery to last for a long time, the device doesn’t always hold up. So, while the Pixel 6 is a great phone, it only gets a ‘B’ for its fundamentals. There’s nothing overtly wrong with Google’s latest flagship smartphone, but months after its release, it struggles to live up to its initial hype.

The Google Pixel 6’s overall battery score places it among the below-average performers of our entire database. In moderate use, the Google Pixel 6 provided 2 days of autonomy, which is slightly below the average in our database. The device showed high consumption not only during calls and music streaming, but during idle periods as well. However, video performance was decent. Despite its 30W charger, the battery’s charging time was quite long, taking 1 hour and 3 minutes to reach 80% of full capacity. A closer look at the charging power curve showed that the maximum power was only 22W, far from the 30W indicated. A 5-minute quick charging boost only yielded an average autonomy gain of 2h and 36 minutes, which is low compared with other phones. However, on the bright side, the device’s residual consumption was low, regardless if the device was plugged in and fully charged, or simply unplugged. The Pixel 6 features wireless charging, which is a bonus for this price segment, but the overall experience was poor. Wireless charging took 3h and 12 minutes to fully charge the 4614 mAh battery,

You’d imagine we’d dock points for Google being fashionably late with the Pixel 6 series phones, seeing how other territories got theirs at launch while Singapore was sidelined to the next quarter. We didn’t penalise that because we felt Google’s choice to work on its own launch timelines and its shift to proprietary chipsets meant that the Pixel 6 phones were a "take it or leave it" deal. They act as if the phones are free from the capitalistic, consumption-driven patterns of KPI-hitting phone makers and demanding phone buyers. That said, being late also doesn’t earn points from us either, and Google can’t rely on these reasons (again) to survive the next launch here. While the worldwide parts crunch no doubt exaggerated the launch locally, seeing how Google's latest and greatest usually arrives late, we do hope they put in more effort to not treat Singapore like an afterthought. Setting our critical lenses aside, you’d be hard-pressed to find another modern, flagship-tier Android smartphone that gives you an Android 12 handset free from unwanted bloatware and immediate security updates. This reason alone is enough for users to pick up a Pixel 6 or 6 Pro, making them ideal for individuals who want a clean, unblemished experience. They’re not the best Google could’ve put together, but the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are good enough nonetheless. The Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro can now be officially acquired via the Singapore Google Store online here for S$999 and S$1,299 respectively.

Really, the biggest reason I can think of not to buy a Pixel 6 right now is that the Pixel 6a could be announced as early as Google I/O, and we're expecting it to be very similar to the full-fat version — only smaller and with an older camera sensor. Assuming it's priced similarly to previous Pixel a phones, it sounds like an incredible deal. Until it's official, that's all conjecture — but it might be worth it to wait it out with your current phone for a little while longer anyway, if you're able. I’m still miffed the Pro model has so many advantages over the smaller version, but stripping out some of the more premium features to keep the base model’s price low was definitely the right call. I call it the "smaller version," but there's really no small Pixel 6 — this is a big phone, which is a bit of a shock after the compact Pixel 4 and Pixel 5. But it’s a very good big phone at a very good price. If you're willing to trust the Pixel 6's future will be smoother than its first six months — and right now, signs point that way — you'll really like it. I know I do.

The Google Pixel 6 represents a lot of things for Google. It’s a shift away from the “specs aren’t that important” mindset that’s followed the company around since the Nexus days. It’s yet more proof that Google can make a damn good phone for well under $1,000. And most importantly, it shows that Google can compete with Apple and Samsung in the affordable flagship tier, just like it set out to do. Whenever I recommend a Pixel phone to friends, family members, or Android Authority readers, there’s always a good reason for it — be it the easy-to-use camera system, cheap price tag, or day-one software updates and security patches. The Google Pixel 6 currently retails at S$999 and is available for purchase at the Google Store. So back to our question in the title – is it worth to spend S$999 on a the Google Pixel 6? Judging that the Google Pixel 6 has been well designed as a product to offer the ultimate Android experience, and that there aren’t really much to complain about it unless we nitpicked, we certainly think that the price is justifiable. With premium smartphones today costing way beyond the S$1000 mark, in comparison, the Google Pixel 6 looks like a very good deal indeed. For an advanced camera system that takes very decent and high quality photos, together with its superb entertainment capabilities, the Google Pixel 6 is a compelling buy for anyone who has the S$1000 budget for a brand new smartphone. It has probably got everything you want in a smartphone, and a few other features (such as its high performance AI compute capabilities) that makes it stand out from competition.

I asked myself this question during the entire testing period, but I never formulated a clear answer. Of course, the Google Pixel 6 is a very interesting flagship smartphone that can both pleasantly surprise and upset. Who is the Pixel 6 for? First of all, the device is intended for Pixel fans, but also for those who want to have a smartphone running on “pure” Android 12. The price of $699 also contributes to this choice, which is very, very acceptable for a modern flagship. Add to this its excellent photographic capabilities, exclusive software functions and very good display quality, and you’ve got yourself an excellent smartphone, which is also unlike any other.

There are few aspects of the Pixel 6 we can call out as particularly impressive. That isn’t the damning indictment it sounds like, though; the reason no one element stands out above the others is that most of its constituent parts have been polished to a mirror shine. The smart background features, attractive display and sophisticated camera all come together to create a device which quietly excels at almost everything you’d ask a smartphone to do. The one glaring exception is the troublesome battery life, which is the sole dent in the Pixel 6’s otherwise unblemished record. It’s frustrating, but ultimately not enough to dampen our enthusiasm for one of the most well put together smartphones we’ve seen in a long time. It may not be particularly flashy, but the Google Pixel 6 is a do-it-all device that really delivers.

If all you’re looking at is the spec sheet when compared to the Pixel 6 Pro, the Pixel 6 may seem like a disappointment, but this phone’s $600 price is what really makes it stand out. It may not have all the bells and whistles, but it definitely delivers the best bang for your buck, even in early 2022. The Pixel 6 is definitely my number one recommendation for a smartphone under $1,000. It’s just that good.

In other test areas differences are less pronounced. Face exposure is good in all conditions but dynamic range is a little more limited than on the Pixel 6 Pro. White balance is generally accurate but skin tones are slightly less natural than on the Pro model. Noise is well-controlled overall and even slightly better than on the Pixel 6 Pro. On the other hand the low levels of detail also impact on the focus score because a limited focus range reduces detail even further if the subjects moves slightly out of the fixed focus lens’ focal plane. This is especially true for close distance shots where faces often look blurry. Video stabilization is efficient in most conditions but a little more residual motion than on the Pixel 6 Pro is visible when walking while recording. Overall video artifacts are similar between the two devices but local loss of sharpness artifacts and ringing are more visible than on the Pro.

Within Google’s Pixel line of smartphones, the Pixel 6 is the option for those users who prefer compact dimensions over maximum screen size. It’s powered by the same Tensor chipset as the Google Pixel 6 Pro but comes with a smaller 6.4-inch display and therefore as an overall smaller package. Other differences include less RAM (8 vs 12GB) and a smaller battery. In the camera department the Pixel 6 lacks the Pro models dedicated tele camera but uses the same 50 MP primary module and 12.5 MP ultra-wide as the flagship model. Read our review to find out what that means for the Pixel 6’s performance in the DXOMARK Camera tests. With a DXOMARK Camera score of 132, the Google Pixel 6 secures a position just outside the top ten in our overall Camera ranking — an outstanding performance at this price point, which also means the Google phone is the lone leader in the High-End segment ($400 to $599) and currently the best option for mobile photographers who prefer smaller devices.

At this point in the review, you might have already guessed that the Google Pixel 6 is easily on the “Best phone of the year” shortlist. So, it’s definitely a product I would recommend to anyone looking for a sub-flagship phone. And as much I wish you’d buy a Pixel phone for yourself, its limited availability is a harsh reality. Unlike phones from other mainstream brands like Samsung, Xiaomi, and OnePlus, you can’t simply buy a Pixel 6, unless you’re in the US or a handful of European countries. Yes, Google has shown they can make terrific phones with equally good hardware and software this time—especially with the Pixel 6. And the upcoming Pixel 6a is shaping up to be an excellent mid-range phone as well. But where Google wants to see itself in the smartphone business, only time will tell. Personally, I would like to see Google bring a $200 phone to India and other developing nations. And I desperately hope to see Pixel 6a competing against the likes of the OnePlus Nord series and Poco’s midrange phones. That would be a really healthy competition!

Like its larger Pro sibling, the Google Pixel 6 is well adapted to most uses. Colors are faithful, gaming and scrolling are smooth, and brightness is suitable for most environments. Its main drawback is that its default brightness is too low when watching HDR10 videos. Further, video playback takes too long to resume after moving forward or backwards in the timeline. The main differences between the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro is size (with proportionately different screen-to-body ratios), less screen brightness and color uniformity on the Pixel 6, visible pink and blue stripes when holding the Pixel 6 on angle, and different refresh rates (90 Hz and 120 Hz, respectively). All of these factors added up to a score for the Pixel 6 that trails the 6 Pro’s by a few points.

Between the new capabilities introduced by both Tensor and Android 12, though, the Pixel 6 is definitely a contender to become your next phone. Android fans who want the best out of Google's software would do well to consider an upgrade to the latest Pixel.

If you're looking for a smartphone that will capture really great images with true-to-life colour reproduction with not much effort then the Google Pixel 6 could be for you. Plus, when you consider its price, it becomes an even more tempting option. Yes, there's no telephoto lens but if you don't mind moving your feet for better framing then the Google Pixel 6 is an excellent choice for those who regularly capture photos with their smartphones.

When the first Google Pixel phone was announced, I remember being excited at the prospect of using an Android iPhone — software and hardware developed under one roof, with an emphasis on UI smoothness, photo prowess, and mass market-friendly branding. (The Nexus line always felt a little too geeky to have a real shot at mainstream success.) But every generation has been a little off in some way: missing features, lackluster performance, or bizarrely high prices relative to the competition. Not anymore. The Pixel 6 is an unequivocally great phone at a surprisingly fair price: $599. It almost feels a little uncanny, but man, I absolutely love this thing.

I won’t pretend that there aren’t caveats. The camera system, while much improved, still won’t be versatile enough for some users due to the missing zoom lens. And let’s not forget, these are big, slippery phones, so anyone hoping for a real Pixel 5 successor will be disappointed. Also, Google took a big risk with Tensor, and without long-term performance metrics, it’s unclear if all of the company’s hard work has paid off. The company also could’ve made much more of an effort to include a biometrics system that isn’t hot garbage. Whenever I recommend a Pixel phone to friends, family members, or Android Authority readers, there’s always a good reason for it

Finally, there’s just the price and overall value on offer with the Pixel 6. I think the Pro is priced fairly for all the upgrades you get, but the truth is I don’t need most of them. 90hz is fine. The screen is great – not the best, but great. 8GB of RAM is plenty. I generally only buy 128GB phones, so that’s not an issue, and camera setup on the Pixel 6 has been outstanding. Seriously, there’s not been one time I’ve missed the telephoto lens or considered the quality of the selfie camera on the Pixel 6. It has been awesome. Take a look at some of the shots I’ve been able to capture with this phone’s amazing camera.

Google’s Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are two very good smartphones, although rarely have I used handsets that are so equal parts exciting and imperfect. For everything these two do right, there’s almost certainly a caveat. The new cameras are great, the ultra-wide shooter not so much. I love the displays, but the fingerprint scanner is finicky. And while the design looks amazing, the Pixel 6 Pro is more slippery than a Teflon politician. Overall, I like both of them and when it comes to value for money you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better buy than the Google Pixel 6. At $599 it’s more affordable than the Samsung Galaxy S21 ($799) and OnePlus 9 ($729) yet feels every bit as good to use and will receive updates for the next five years. If you’re after a flagship-tier phone that won’t break the bank, the Pixel 6 is it. Perhaps the tougher question is whether the Pixel 6 Pro is worth the $300 extra. Despite a number of specification differences, the only real tangible improvements, in my experience, are with the camera’s zoom and the finer aspects of the Pro’s physical design.

With all of the upgrades to software and hardware, you have to wonder if that will be enough to make the Pixel 6 successful. And that's really the only thing I can't answer. I can say this is the best phone Google has ever built. As tempting as the Pixel 6 is, for $300 more you can upgrade to the slightly more premium Pixel 6 Pro, which adds a telephoto camera; a 6.7-inch display with curved edges, a higher resolution and high refresh rate; more RAM; an ultrawideband chip and Gorilla Glass Victus on the back. But if you have $600 and are looking for a new phone, the Pixel 6 is my recommendation.

Overall, I’m torn on whether I like the direction that Google has taken for the displays of its two main phones. Of course, everyone would want them both to be a bit better—a slightly brighter display for the 6 Pro and a more refined OLED for the regular 6—but Google’s pricing has made it difficult to ask for more. At least for the Pro phone, I genuinely believe that you’re getting your money’s worth. But for the upper mid-ranged Pixel 6, I feel that it’s priced in a guttered region where it’s not priced high enough to afford a display that sets it apart from those on budget phones. If Google priced the Pixel 6 about $100 higher, but with a polished flexible OLED to boot, I believe that Google’s base model could be much more successful.

The Pixel 6 has us muttering some valid if small-ish, complaints. Competitors have largely moved to 120Hz displays, and this one is still at 90Hz, though the jump from 60Hz to 90Hz is perhaps the more visible one. Charging is slow in the grand scheme of things, but about alright in the Pixel 6's context where that doesn't seem to be a priority. Tensor throttles, but so do the competing high-end Snapdragon/Exynoses. And for all its tendency to pick up lint from your pockets, the camera strip on the back is a rarely interesting-looking design choice. Google being a software company in the first place, it's the Pixel's take on Android that is a key selling point, and we're fans of the direction it's going with UI this year. The on-device software features enabled by that occasionally throttling Tensor are unique to the lineup and can be of real help for the right user. And for all the catching up that the competition has done in the computational photography field, the Pixel 6 remains a class-leading cameraphone - that can be appreciated by everyone.

If the Pixel 6 was the same overall size as the Pixel 5, it would have wowed me even more than it has. Because it’s not, all the design alterations (a flat screen and fewer curves) do is emphasize this is just the cheaper, lower-class version of a better phone. It’s not a phone that will suit someone with different preferences, just one that will appeal to a different wallet. That’s fine, but it’s also a wasted opportunity. Otherwise, you’re left with the Pixel 5a if you want a smaller Google phone, but again, only in the U.S. and Japan. If you buy the cheaper Pixel 6 instead of the Pixel 6 Pro, all you’re really missing out on is the better camera. Otherwise, I’ve found the software and performance to be basically the same, problems and all. The battery life is decent at up to two days, plus it has all the durability and software updates you need for it to be a lasting purchase.

The Pixel 6 combines the finest of Google’s services and Android 12’s features. So much so that I’d argue that the Pixel 6 is Google’s most important phone improvement since the Pixel line launched in 2016. The phone’s upgraded cameras, Google’s Tensor processor, and premium aspirations come after months of anticipation, thanks in part to Google’s announcement of the phone months before its release and its distinctive two-tone design. All of these enhancements are made while keeping the Pixel 6 at a midtier $599 price point, which more than makes up for the disappointing Pixel 5.

The Google Pixel 6 isn’t the most powerful phone on the market, but its new Tensor chipset elevates its photo-taking capabilities beyond that of rival handsets. While it lacks a telephoto lens, and its battery life isn’t anything to brag about, it’s a big phone with a 6.4-inch display, a radical new design, and a price that can undercut rival Android phones – although carrier-specific versions might be pricier.

The smaller Pixel 6 is, quite simply, one of the best deals on the market today. For $599, you get a flagship-tier device with one of the best cameras, an excellent design, software support that outlasts any other Android phone, and battery life that’s extremely good in our experience. Even without the 120Hz display, telephoto camera, and other little upgrades you get on the Pro, it’s a very compelling phone, and, given the price difference, it actually feels like the better device out of the two. I would have a tough time deciding between these devices, but the Pixel 6 is so much closer to my personal wants and needs that I’m definitely leaning towards using this as my personal phone instead of the Pro. Now that we know stock for the Pixel 6 Pro is so hard to come by, this affordable model becomes even more compelling. If you’re due for an upgrade and want to try out Google’s offering, you can’t go wrong with the standard model. It’s the best deal you’ll get on a smartphone today, and there are no deal-breakers in the entire experience.

The Pixel 6 exemplifies the best of what Google services and Android 12 have to offer. So much so that I'd claim that the Pixel 6 is the most significant phone upgrade Google has made since it launched the Pixel line in 2016. The phone's new cameras, Google's Tensor chip and premium ambitions follow months of hype -- partly stemming from Google announcing the phone months before it was released -- and its bold two-tone design. All of these changes come while keeping the Pixel 6 at a midtier $599 price, which easily washes away the bad taste left by the understated Pixel 5. Previous Pixel phones have lived in that safe, quiet and crowded midtier space where phones cost between $600 and $800. For most people, they were good and sometimes great phones but lacked the luster, specs and appeal of more premium phones from Samsung and Huawei.

Pixel fans had a rough year in 2020, when Google decided to launch the Pixel 5 instead of… well, a “real” flagship. It was an upper-midranger at best with an admittedly great camera, but lacking in a lot of areas. And still priced at $700. I firmly believe that the Google Pixel 6 offers tons of value and undercuts a lot of its competitors with its $600 price-tag. It offers the same software experience and powerful hardware as the Pixel 6 Pro, with the same awesome camera that takes fantastic photos in both day and night. It’s a much better Pixel phone than last year’s Pixel 5, which launched at a steeper price, too. In fact, this new offer might make companies like OnePlus and Samsung reconsider how they price their flagships, and what build materials they pick for the “cheaper variants” going forward. As it stands right now, the Google Pixel 6 can easily take the title of Best Android Phone, especially in the $600 segment. It just pulls no punches and it doesn’t make any serious compromises. Well, you do sacrifice the telephoto camera, which the Google Pixel 6 Pro has.

Overall Google has set out to provide a new flagship devices experience, bringing together for the first time their own SOC alongside a clean new Android 12 and great hardware design. The overall package works, and it makes me excited that Google may finally be getting their entire component, device and software strategy aligned. If the Pixel 6 is this good, our expectations for the Pixel 7 are greatly increased. So, should you buy a Pixel 6? That’s both an easy and a hard answer. I have no reservations in recommending the Pixel 6 as a device that is worth buying. If you want a telephoto lens then I’d highly recommend looking at the Pixel 6 Pro, the price jump isn’t that much and the additional lens may be worth it for you. For the past few years, I have been recommending more affordable devices, like the Pixel A series, however, at a $999 starting point the Pixel 6 while slightly more expensive than the old A series is still relatively y affordable compared to the competition, and I think worth the extra money.

With all we've seen so far, it kind of looks like the Pixel 6 is the better deal here. It's a full $300 cheaper, its screen is still relatively big at 6.4 inches, it has that new Tensor chip inside, and the same main camera. OK, the Google Pixel 6 Pro has a 4x optical zoom — that'll matter to you if you want to take portraits while standing quite a way back from your subjects. And that shiny and curvy design on the Pixel 6 Pro is definitely more... well, pretty.

Google's incursion into hardware has shown us a very interesting pattern of priorities. From forgettable looks, to odd design choices, and even a brief stint into only making mid-rangers, it's clear Google has always been open to experiment. I can't really say I'd call any of their phones visually great, but their software was a different story. It's crazy how the company has spent years delivering some of the best photography I've ever taken, more software updates than every other Android OEM, and steady feature enhancements even to old devices, all while using aging camera sensors and less-powerful chips than the rest. It makes me wonder if this is the reason for their lack of success. It's sad to see more enthusiasm in the comments than we see in sales figures. It only proves a point that regardless of how victorious Google is in software, hardware requires moves that are just as bold. This is the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. What Google calls the best they have to offer, built around you, and what I would call the most dramatic change Google has ever done to this lineup.

I can keep this short and sweet. If you like Google Pixel phones, buy this phone. Whether you want the Pro model or not is on you, but this smaller Pixel 6 option is really, really good. It’s a frontrunner for me to get awarded POTY (Phone of the Year). Besides the lame fingerprint reader, there really isn’t anything to dislike here, and at its ridiculous $599 price, I can’t think of any other phone that would be in the conversation. Maybe if the Galaxy S21 FE ever gets released, you could consider that if you’re more in tune with Samsung hardware and software, but even then it’ll be interesting to see if Samsung can keep the price low enough to make it compete against the Pixel 6. Heck, even diehard OnePlus fans have to be thinking to themselves that it might be time to get with a Pixel. This phone’s a winner, plain and simple. I foresee it being my daily driver for quite some time.

The Google Pixel 6 delivers top-notch performance, long battery life, and impressive cameras. It replaces the Pixel 5a as our midrange Editors' Choice winner, but if you're looking to spend less on the 5a, you really can't go wrong with either. Whether you should spend $300 more on the Pixel 6 Pro depends on what you're looking for. If you're a serious smartphone photographer, a hardcore smartphone gamer who needs the 120Hz LTPO display and extra RAM, or a die-hard AT&T customer who wants mmWave connectivity, the Pixel 6 Pro is worth the premium. But for the best midrange phone $599 can buy, the Pixel 6 is hard to beat.

Although the Pixel 6 feels more premium and luxurious than ever before, the design overhaul might well be a hurdle too high for some to get past. It’s 8.9mm thick and over 200g heavy and the former doesn’t include the Camera Bar, something which I fear most people will dislike. The design is also precariously slippy so a case feels almost necessary, increasing the chonk factor further. If you don’t mind a larger phone – although it feels like a lot of buyers get a Pixel due to its compact size – then the Pixel 6 comes in a variety of colours and a solid set of hardware. Performance is perfectly good despite the odd benchmark score behind rivals, the cameras are great – even if some of the new software features are hit and miss – and the screen is also top-quality. The bezel around it could be smaller but the asking price here is very reasonable. Battery life is another plus, with two-day performance for many users.

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Pixel 6 announcement has been, did Google do it? Has it actually been able to produce a competent, flagship-level smartphone that doesn’t have any show-stopping bugs or big gotchas? And the answer is a resounding yes, the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are excellent phones. They may not be the best in every category, but as a whole, they perform well, have great screens, excellent cameras, and reliably great battery life. The only real hang-up here is the size — if you don’t like large phones, they probably aren’t for you. Adding to their appeal is how much value is packed in. The Pixel 6 in particular is just a lot of phone for $600 — it’s hard to think of anything on the market that can compete with it at that price. Google is offering a better experience than basically any other Android phone maker in the markets where the Pixel is available, and often doing so for a lower price. It’s even undercutting OnePlus, which built its entire brand on selling premium phones for lower prices.

The pronounced bezels and aggressively square corners of HTC’s 8X Windows Phone. The Daft Punk-like camera visor of Huawei’s Nexus 6P. And the notion that the company whose software powers three quarters of the world’s smartphones ... should offer a flagship device worthy of that lofty status. I’m Michael Fisher and this is the MrMobile review of the Google Pixel 6. On top of confident design, it brings custom silicon; the biggest camera upgrade in five years; and the most assertive Android overhaul in ten. The only thing left for Google to do was to make sure the price didn’t get out of control and guess what? It did that too.

Both are almost identical in performance, so the cheaper Pixel 6 is a sweet spot. It has no downsides to the Pixel 6 Pro. The 6 Pro offers a little more, none of which are compelling reasons to spend $300 more. If you are a power user, videographer, vlogger, or gamer – no. There are better phones like the OPPO Find X3 Pro or dedicated gaming phones that will do the job better. If you are a typical user, have a lazy $999/1129 and $1299/1599 and want a fashion statement, there are no downsides. But this opens the choice to other 5G phones that will also get an Android 12 upgrade:

The price for the Google Pixel 6 is surprisingly good. At a base cost of $599, this device is more valuable than it needs to be. Once you get to the $699 mark, you’re basically right on the money – and there you’re more than likely paying for the mmWave 5G iteration of the phone. The 5G mmWave-capable version of the phone should prepare you for the next couple of years of expansion of said high-speed mobile internet. You’ll want to make absolutely sure you’re buying the right version of the hardware. The Google Pixel 6 is a winner – but more than that, it represents Google at its best. This phone and the Android 12 experience are powerful, playful, reliable, and exciting. Assuming Google continues on with the software support they’ve provided Pixel phones since the dawn of the brand, the Pixel 6 is absolutely the best Android 12 smartphone value on the market today.

The new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are beyond a doubt Google’s best ever smartphones with remarkable performance, striking and sleek designs and intelligent features that can’t be found anywhere else. The Pixel smartphones haven’t quite had the same appeal in the flagship space as Apple’s iPhone and Samsung devices. But the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro a set to change all that. These new devices are among the most advanced smartphones on the market today. And they are powered by Google’s very own Tensor chip which has been designed especially for the new Pixel 6 smartphones. The build quality is impressive along with the sleek design and colour choices.

Thankfully for Google, the questionable software is either able to be switched off, replaced, or extraneous to the experience -- such is the flexibility of Android. It leaves the hardware as the real selling point, and on this front, the Pixel 6 does great. The phone comes in two storage options, 128GB for AU$1,000 and 256GB for AU$1,130, and the choice of greeny-blue and yellow Sorta Seafoam, two-tone pink Kinda Coral, and dark and light grey Stormy Black. By comparison, the 6 Pro is over AU$300 more expensive for each storage option, and charges AU$1,600 for its 512GB option. Whether millimetre wave 5G and the telephoto lens is worth AU$300 for you is the purchasing decision to make. Either way, the Pixels are competitively priced.

The Pixel 6 represents the best value Google has ever offered in a hardware product, full stop. It punches above its weight in nearly every way: performance is great, build quality is very good, update support is class-leading, and the cameras positively rip. More than once while testing this phone, I had to remind myself that it’s not a flagship. If I didn’t already know and you’d asked me to guess how much the Pixel 6 cost after my time with it, I would’ve pegged it at $800. But at $599, this thing is extremely aggressively positioned; it’s so good for the money, it makes the $899 Pixel 6 Pro, a phone with more cameras, more RAM, and better and larger display, feel a little overpriced. Google’s somehow managed to bring some of the incredible value offered by its A-series phones upstream to more premium offerings, and I’m so excited to see it. I’m still miffed the Pro model has so many advantages over the smaller version, but stripping out some of the more premium features to keep the base model’s price low was definitely the right call.

There are two big talking points with the Pixel 6: the unique design and the Google-made Tensor processor. This focus on creating a phone that's visually distinct from everything else on the market, while also investing in its own home-grown silicon, suggests Google is taking this whole smartphone thing very seriously. This hardware, matched with Google's computational work in the background, and the Android 12 software elevate the Pixel 6 to more than the sum of its parts. It's a genuinely great phone that delivers in all the right ways, and makes you smile while it does it. You get virtually flagship levels of performance, a great screen, good battery life, and software that not only enables a unique style, but is also updated with new features and security patches regularly. What's more, you'll get those security patches for five years. All in a phone that doesn't cost anywhere near as much as some of the big premium devices.

Whichever version you’re considering, the Pixel 6 series is a superb return to form. Google is clearly aware that its strengths lay in smart software and excellent photography, and those are the areas where the Pixel 6s deliver most. The company also didn’t neglect basics like battery life and display, and though I wish the fingerprint sensor was faster, there’s little to complain about. Best of all, Google is offering you all these flagship features for hundreds less than the competition.

The big question a lot of potential customers will be asking is whether the Pro model is worth the extra €250. For your money, you get an extra rear camera with 4x optical zoom, better selfie camera with 4K video, 50 per cent more RAM, a more durable and premium build and a slightly larger and higher resolution screen with a faster refresh rate display. In my opinion, that package of extras makes it well worth the price. But I’m someone who tests new phones all of the time, a power user who wants the best specs and maximum performance. I think the average consumer will love Pixel 6 and won’t miss the additional features that the Pro models carries.

The only thing that gives us a little pause with the new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, would be their somewhat dated Samsung 5G modems, that may or may not deliver the same kind of data throughput you can pull from current-gen Snapdragon 888 phones or perhaps the new iPhone 13. Again, we're still testing 5G performance but our initial results were fairly good with the exception of a bit of ping latency, though we still would like more experience traveling around with the device for extended testing in maintaining signal integrity, etc. Regardless, we wouldn't call this a showstopper and for what the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro deliver in terms of overall device and experience quality, we have to applaud these new made by Google devices. It's been a while since we've had a truly flagship Google Pixel release, but the new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are very much in this class of devices, with features and performance that may cost hundreds more with competitive offerings. For all they deliver at their respective price points, these new Pixels have earned HotHardware's Editor's Choice.

While the Pixel 6 Pro is the true flagship Google phone, the Pixel 6 is clearly the phone meant to lead Google’s phone armada. The Pixel 6, at $599, creates a clear upgrade path for Pixel fans coming from the Pixel 3a or Pixel 4a, who were underwhelmed by the Pixel 5a and wanted more without spending $1,000. The budget realm has been Google’s bread and butter over the last few years and the Pixel 6 may perfectly fit into an underdeveloped price range in the market. While it may lack premium features found on the Pixel 6 Pro and some and other flagship phones from Samsung or Apple, the large 90Hz display, incredible primary camera and strong software support from Google may be enough to finally push a Pixel device into the mainstream.

If you are in need of a new phone, and don’t need or want a curved display, then the Pixel 6 is the better deal for you. It’s $300 less, and still has all of the same features as the Pixel 6 Pro. There are a few small differences between the two, but we feel that the Pixel 6 is the better deal for most people.

Google has aimed high with the Pixel 6 and it's a big improvement over the Pixel 5 – you now get a more premium design, faster CPU, improved camera, and plenty of new software features. Perhaps best of all, it's available for the same price as last year's phone. There's certainly a lot to like about the Pixel 6 and only a few small things to complain about. The main issue is the large camera bump on the back of the phone – it not only looks awkward but it makes for some iffy ergonomics as well. It's also a shame that this device has grown and there's no longer a compact size option from Google. But they're easy things to look past – the reasons you would buy this Pixel phone continue to be the reasons you would buy any Pixel phone: primarily, speedy Android updates for the next few years, a bloat-free software experience with some nice Google-y tweaks, and a camera that's going to outperform most of the others on the market at the moment.

Overall, the Pixel 6 offers really great value. At $800 in Canada, it’s super affordable but manages to keep up with some of the biggest flagships in the game. While on paper some things don’t quite measure up (like the lower-res screen and 90Hz refresh rate), in practice these things don’t matter that much, especially for the average smartphone user. Coupled with the excellent intelligent features, the Pixel 6 feels like a very smart phone, and I think a lot of people will appreciate these things. That said, I also don’t the Pixel 6 is the best phone for everyone. Anyone who prefers a smaller phone will struggle with both the 6 and 6 Pro. Plus, some people may find that premium flagships from Samsung or Apple offer a little better hardware, although the gap between those devices and the Pixel 6 is impressively small for how much the phone costs. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro will be available starting October 28th in Canada through Best Buy, Google and carriers.

I call it the "smaller version," but there's really no small Pixel 6 — this is a big phone, which is a bit of a shock after the compact Pixel 4 and Pixel 5. But it’s a very good big phone at a very good price. It makes the competition in its segment look plain bad. There’s no looming “if” here: Do you want a new smartphone? Can you afford to spend $600 on it, but don’t want to spend much more? Buy the Pixel 6.

The Google Pixel 6 may have left the usual compact design, but the new changes seem more attractive. Do not forget, have a premium feel, even if it reaches a price of $ 699. The new processing chipset is not tested, and there are still some questions about the actual processing power. Still, if you are a genuine fan of Google Phone, the company covered everything from the UI and camera. So there is nothing to worry about it except performance since it is a first-generation processor. However, battery performance looks better than the last generation phone. In addition, the best alternative recommendation would be the Samsung Galaxy S21 5G if you are looking for something compact.

If you've waited all year for a knockout phone, the Google Pixel 6 ticks almost all of the right boxes: it's powerful where it counts, it looks great front or back, and the software is the best Google has ever put out. Google is reclaiming its photography crown and making a serious run for Apple with video quality on the Pixel 6. In addition, Google Tensor helps make every photo look better than ever without slowing down your phone to process them all. All of this for $600 seems like Google decided to start off with Black Friday pricing — wow, 2021 really has gone by fast — and it's little wonder that several Pixel 6 models are already sold out. If you've ever wanted to try a Pixel, this is the one to take the plunge with, and if you've been burned by Pixels past, it might be time to try again. I know that I'm at the beginning of a beautiful friendship with my Kinda Coral Pixel 6, and now I just need some nice red cases to deck it out for the holidays.

24 hours is not enough time to give the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro a true battery test, and we need to ensure that Tensor still holds up once we've finished moving into them. Those will be coming in our review as soon as we can fully put them through their paces. From what we've seen so far, there are two things we can say with absolute certainty: these are the prettiest Pixels Google has ever made, and the cameras are absolutely worth the years of waiting. The telephoto lens and the variable-refresh LTPO OLED screen on the Pixel 6 Pro might not be worth the extra $300 to some of you — especially when the 6 has the same main two cameras and all of the new Pixel goodies — but going Pro this year will be a much more difficult question for many this year given the wider price gap between them.

The Pixel 6 is a formidable Android phone at a very compelling price point. Could this be the turning point for mass take-up of Google’s stock Android devices? Let’s hope so, because it would be a massive shame if this didn’t prove a big seller. It’s great to use and offers plenty of bang for buck. You might not get a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz with the standard model, but the screen is terrific, too.
