Objektív szempontból a fedél külső szövetének megvannak az előnyei és hátrányai a szokásos műanyaggal vagy fémmel szemben. Durva textúrája elrejti az ujjlenyomatokat és más kisebb hibákat, amelyeket más laptopokon néha könnyű észrevenni. Másrészt a szövetet nehéz tisztítani, és könnyen magába szívja a zsírt és a szennyeződéseket, amelyek idővel csak felhalmozódnak.
A szövet érdekes értékesítési szempont, és a felhasználóknak azt ajánljuk, hogy vásárlás előtt személyesen is nézzék és tapintsák meg. Ez egy leheletnyi friss levegőt jelent a tipikus sima fémmel szemben, de ugyanakkor kockáztatja, hogy divatjamúlt lesz.
