Moto One Power may have cut corners in terms of design but it’s a good enough mid-range phone with excellent battery life. The camera, however, could have been slightly better. Xiaomi Mi A2 is still the best camera phone under Rs 20,000 in India. That said, Xiaomi’s new Redmi Note 6 Pro also uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor and is available at a starting price of Rs 13,999. Compared to Redmi Note 6 Pro, Moto One Power looks like a definite alternative.

The Moto One Power is pegged as the most value-oriented smartphones at mid-range segment directly competing with Redmi Note 5 and RealMe 2 Pro. I’m definitely impressed with its long day battery life and Android One program with frequent updates straight from Google. While it offers good battery, it does adds additional weight which cannot be unnoticed.

The Motorola One Power is a phone for Android One lovers, it has stock Android with Moto gestures, the battery life is amazing, and it offers a decent performance starting at Rs 15,999. A few things like lack of dual-VoLTE support, the bulky design, and the sluggish camera can’t be ignored. If you are looking for phones within a similar range, similar performance, and better cameras, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is still hard to beat one. The cheaper alternative ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 can be looked as well.

Priced at Rs. 15,999, the Motorola One Power establishes itself as the one to get if security updates and long battery life is what you desire. Being a part of the Android One program, you are guaranteed long-term security updates which is something that Xiaomi’s phones can’t really promise. Add to that the 5000 mAh battery and you’re looking at a very solid smartphone. Outside of the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is another option that prospective buyers can look at. While the battery on the Nokia is significantly smaller, you get a nicer screen and a much prettier design. It goes on sale exclusively on Flipkart every week.

Motorola has done the pricing right this time, after the blunder it did with Moto G6 Plus. The phone comes loaded with a decent specifications and the major advantage here is the Android One programme and impressive 5000mAh battery. This coupled with good display and standard design, does make it a interesting option to consider in this price band. However, the phone faces a stiff competition with like of Nokia 6.1 Plus and Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, as both of them offer similar specifications. The Nokia 6.1 Plus looks much premium with its build quality, whereas, ZenFone Max Pro M1 is a bit cheaper than this one and still manages to give almost similar specs.

The Motorola One Power has made it to the Indian market at a sensible price. It is built well and runs pure stock Android, and its biggest advantage is the 5000mAh battery. Since it is a part of the Android One programme, it will get guaranteed security updates for three years, and software updates for the next two years. It also offers better value compared to the Moto G6 and G6 Plus. However, it misses out on dual 4G which is a big omission considering the price. Overall, the One Power is a well-rounded phone and is a good choice for people who prefer stock Android and want the best battery life in this segment.

The Moto One Power is clearly an attempt to destabilise Xiaomi, Nokia and Honor’s pole position in the mid-range segment and take back the market share, and for the most part, the Moto One Power is capable of doing that. The phone’s is performs reliably, has a decent enough camera and can last really long — More or less everything one looks for in a mid-range device. It’s not a perfect device though, and there are a few annoying trade off here and there. Read the full review to find out.

Motorola One Power comes with a massive 5000mAh battery with TurboCharge technology coupled with some competitive hardware, which is supported by a pure stock Android experience. The camera looks good as well and it will surely give tough competition to Xiaomi Mi A2 and Nokia 6.1 Plus.

The Motorola One Power is slated to launch in India around October, and although we don’t have an exact price yet, we’re told that it should be under Rs. 15,000. If the Motorola One Power is as good as it looks on paper then it should give stiff competition to the Redmi Note 5 Pro (and the upcoming Redmi 6 series), but it would most likely cannibalize sales of the Moto G6 (Review). The Motorola One is priced at 299 Euros (roughly Rs. 24,000) and will be launching at some point in the months to come. However, given the features and specifications it offers, Lenovo is going to have a tough time convincing buyers in India, especially with options like the Poco F1 (Review) around.
