The regular Oppo Find X8 is an excellent, well-rounded device. Sure, there are a few compromises compared to the Pro model. The most notable one is probably the absence of the second telephoto camera, the missing camera key and the smaller battery. Even so, though, we found the Find X8 to be an excellent camera phone, and the trade-offs are reasonable considering its smaller size and lower price. Even the digital 6x zooms it offers aren't half bad. The non-LTPO nature of the display on the vanilla model is a relatively minor drawback. You still get pretty good brightness output, and that hasn't left a notable dent in the battery life.

The OPPO Find X8 is a pretty incredible phone. The only real reason I can find why you shouldn’t buy this (legitimately) is because it won’t be coming to the US. Though it works pretty well on T-Mobile’s network, I was getting 5G connectivity on it with Google Fi. If you’re in the market for a new phone and are looking for one that has a great camera, incredible battery life, and the latest version of Android – none of Samsung’s phones have that – then the Find X8 is a great phone to pick up right now. This review was written before we knew the global price, so we aren’t able to put that into respect with this review.

Features like AI-enhanced photography, super-fast charging, and smooth multitasking make it a compelling choice for everyday users and tech enthusiasts alike. That said, it’s not without its flaws. The pre-installed bloatware in ColorOS 15 can feel unnecessary and clutter the otherwise polished experience. The low light camera perfromance, while excellent when dialled in with the perfect settings, doesn’t set any new standards, and while the rest of the capabilities are versatile, they don’t leapfrog the competition in this segment.

After my initial usage, it's difficult for me to draw a verdict about which phone is better and which phone offers better value. From a camera perspective, the Find X8 Pro definitely has an edge in the zoom department, as not many premium smartphones offer 6X optical zoom these days. As for the Find X8, despite having fewer cameras, it also seems quite capable, but I'll have to test out both devices in different scenarios to see and deduce each phone's strengths and weaknesses, not just with their cameras but with their design, battery life, and displays as well. I loved the Oppo Find X8 Pro, so it’s no surprise I also love the standard Find X8. This model offers a very similar overall experience, and for a lot of people, it’s probably the sensible choice. To summarise the differences: The X8 has a flatter boxy design, a slightly smaller screen, main camera sensor and battery, and it lacks the 6x lens and camera button. I use the 6x telephoto quite frequently, and I also enjoy the novelty of the dedicated camera button, so for me, the Pro is worth the extra outlay. However, I don’t think that’s the case for everyone, and the Quick Button is far from an essential upgrade. As for the difference in screen size and battery life, the difference is so small that I don’t think it should factor into the equation. The top-notch hardware is one thing, but the Oppo Find X8 also delivers on the software front.
